Ellie’s Top Tips For After Skin Care When Shaving

If you’ve made it this far in my website you’ll know I know a thing or two about hair removal and that includes after skin care for shaving. I admit that it takes a lot of work keeping my long legs smooth and sexy. As much as I’d love to credit good genetics, a lot of it is me doing the work in order to look so good.

[box size=”large”]I have a few tips  to share with you regarding after skin care for shaving, but a lot of it is really dependent on what you do before putting razor to skin. Even though I am a bit lazy, I’ve devised a plan that works every time leaving my legs looking lovely, luscious and longing for a glance or two from an admiring male somewhere within my leg radar.[/box]

Okay, I knew early on that one of my strongest secret weapons were my legs. I was blessed with long and lean ones that tan just right. There was no way I was going to waste my ammunition by not taking care of them.

[box type=”info” size=”large” style=”rounded”]So before I pull out the razor I create the perfect conditions. I try very hard not to frighten the hair on my legs as I want them to cooperate. If I get all bitchy with them they will just refuse to let the razor cut them down to size. [/box]

I have found the best time to shave is at the end of a shower. The reason for this is that the warm water has actually softened the hair shafts making them easier to shave without pulling and breaking. The softer hairs are also easier on my razor which means it will last a bit longer as well.

The next thing I do for after skin care for shaving is also before I start to shave and is considered by many to be one of the most important things to keep the skin on your legs healthy. I use a body scrub which removes dead skin cells allowing new ones to form and the scrubbing action also opens up pores.

[box type=”info” size=”large” style=”rounded”]Sometimes dead skin cells get collected by your razor which can have an effect on how perfectly it cuts. The exfoliating remedies this. It also feels pretty good right after a shower. The tingles I get from it put a spring in my step and mentally prepares me for the next couple of steps.[/box]

While I have shaved just with water, I do prefer to use a shaving gel of some kind in this next step. I love to cover my legs in a layer of lather which reacts with the newly opened pores and adds a touch of moisturizing zing to my legs. The gel will also assist the razor by letting it glide over the surface of my legs and the gliding action helps to prevent cuts and other nasty errors that often result in drawing some blood.
[box size=”large” style=”rounded”]Long, tanned legs – good. Long, tanned and bloody legs – not so good. This is why after skin care for shaving legs is so important.[/box]

Probably the most obvious step is next and that is the shaving part but where this becomes of key importance is with the razor you use. I’m not saying you should never use a cheap 99-cent disposable razor because it’s the only razor you can find at the all-night truck stop in the middle of nowhere, because there will be times that’s all you’ll be able to find.

[box type=”info” size=”large” style=”rounded”]What I am saying is use the best razor you can afford to and don’t be afraid to switch it up a bit. I’m not a huge fan of multi-blade razors because I’ll get the kind of close shave I want from a twin blade I found in my boyfriend’s bathroom. If you are a bit pickier, pick a razor that at least has a moisture strip and has a pivoting head. [/box]

Now this is the most important part of the process of after skin care for shaving legs.
As soon as you finish shaving, towel dry your legs by patting the towel, not rubbing it along them then rub a generous amount of moisturizer on your legs. The best after skin care for shaving legs moisturizers are alcohol-free and do not contain things identified as alpha-hydroxy acids.

[box type=”info” size=”large” style=”rounded”]Good choices contain shea butter, jojoba or a host of natural ingredients. The reason why you want these kinds of moisturizers is that they will trap the moisture on your legs keeping the skin cells hydrated. This is what gives my legs the sexy sheen that gets noticed. Using moisturizers with these properties will also help in reducing ingrown hairs, rashes and skin irritations.[/box]
